Salvation

Why We Need to Be Saved?

Creation—The One True God of the Bible created the world and mankind to be in perfect fellowship with Him.

Genesis 1:23
23  So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Genesis 1:27
27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Corruption—We rebelled against Him and broke that perfect relationship.

Romans 1:25
25  who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Romans 3:23
23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23
23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Cross—We desperately needed a Savior and God loved us enough to send Jesus.

John 3:16
16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3  For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4  and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

How Can I Be Saved?

Choice—Every person must choose to reject or accept the invitation to follow Jesus personally as their Lord and Savior.  We must repent of our sin and put our faith in Jesus to be saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9  not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Romans 10:8-9
8  But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
