Letter From Trenton Street Baptist Church Childcare Committee

We welcome you and your child to Trenton Street.  We provide a safe, healthy, and wholesome learning environment for each child in our care.  We cordially invite parents to visit us, ask questions, and please make suggestions.  The best assurance for the success of your child's experience is the close cooperation and understanding of parents and staff.

Trenton Street Baptist Church Child Care (Trenton St.) complies with the rules and regulations set forth by the TN Department of Human Services pertaining to center-based child care agencies.  Trenton St. is a private, non-profit organization operated under the direction of the child care committee board nominated by Trenton Street Baptist Church membership.  As an outreach ministry of Trenton Street Baptist Church, the child care committee has been given full authority in the operation of the center.  We ask all parents, children, staff and visitors to respect our facilities, policies, and decisions.

Our mission here at Trenton Street Baptist Church is to love God, love people, and make disciples.  The child care ministry is a reflection of that mission.  Through Trenton Street Child care, we are able to serve God by serving the families of our community.  We serve the children by showing and teaching them about our God.  That being said, child care is faith-based but non-sectarian in nature.  We welcome children of any religious denomination.  No specific doctrines of the Baptist Faith will be taught by our staff; however Bible stories, scripture verses, prayer and related emphasis will be included as part of the curriculum. We aspire to help your child grow in his or her knowledge of God, and relationship with Jesus.

The child care center, staff, and church members desire to be of service to your child and your family.  We appreciate the confidence you have placed in us, allowing us to care for your child.

Philosophy, Purpose and Objective

We accept each child as an important individual. We strive to provide the best care possible at his or her developmental age. It is our hope to not be a detached facility that just fulfills it s duties, but to be a loving facility that truly cares for each child. We wish to reflect a good Christian image. Our staff profess to be Christians, and seek to adhere to strict moral values. Our center philosophy reflects a strong Baptist influence. We present the Bible as the inspired word of God, exciting and wonderful with timeless teachings that can make our lives happier. We want each child to see God as we see him, a loving, caring ever-Present Father.

We offer a program consistent with the highest quality of early childhood education. We desire to instill a strong sense of self-worth balanced by a sense of humble thankfulness.  We will provide each child with opportunities, through play, to gain independence in caring for himself or herself, to learn to respect their materials and peers, and to understand the need for routine.  We assist children in developing social, emotional, physical, language, and academic skills.  We balance our schedule with structured activities, and free play, active periods and quiet, restful periods, large group, small group and one-on-one times.  It is our main objective to provide a safe, healthy, caring environment for your child throughout the day.  We want to see your child grow, learn, and live to experience the love of Christ in his or her life.

Children are enrolled in classes based on age and abilities.  Class size is set according to state rules and regulations.  Often classes will fill up and a new class will need to be opened.  This is not always immediately possible as space and teachers are limited.  In the event that a class is full, a waiting list will be started.  It is necessary for you to maintain communication and keep financial obligations.  Any child not in attendance for 20 consecutive school days may be dropped from our rolls to allow room for new students.  Any account unpaid, or any disrespectful, uncooperative behavior could also lead to discontinuation of services.
